Moonlit Walk

Moonlit Walk, is a constellation of observations drawn from camping trips at Swimcart Beach on Tasmania’s East Coast. The work emerged when a frost-bitten watercolour over an ink drawing accidently came to rest on another drawing on the floor of my studio. The resulting overlays created an irresistible association between moonlit calcium (shell and bone fragments underfoot), a full moon and the multitude of orbiting space junk above.

The dispersed composition of wheeling space and drifting matter recalls the unstable dynamics of a coastal ecosystem – a kinetic field of continuous transformation. It also alludes to the atmospherics of my emotions as they race and dwell on memories treasured places, thoughts of lost histories, fragile ecosystems and an uncertain future.
