Watercolour and Pen on Paper (framed)

Monument of Buffalo explores the landscape through drawing and watercolour, capturing the sculptural and expressive forms that define the unique identity of Mount Buffalo in Victoria. Light, movement, and form converge to express both the strength and subtlety of this natural monument.
Working from memory and photographs, the artwork reflects on geological formations and their interaction with the passing of time. My process of layering meticulous pen mark-making and delicate washes of watercolour reveals the intricate textures and movements in the landscape — the subtle colours and sculptural forms of the rock. The detail and ethereal presence invite viewers to see the landscape anew, exploring macro and micro forms and patterns through the work.
Through this process, I aim to express the quiet strength and shifting presence of the land — connecting with its light, form, and memory to evoke a deeper sense of belonging within it.
