Pressed pastel, stencil, acrylic, silicon carbide on rag paper

Documenting clouds in fleeting time as a photograph doesn’t easily capture the experience. So, I’ve attempted to embody this presence by making marks on a blue surface, using it as a meditative practice to embrace each passing moment as I move across the paper. I would liken my process to a human photocopier pressing the white pastel by hand with a brush across the page; through a tarlatan mesh stencil to reveal the drawing’s, existence and memory of the sky impression.
My fascination with clouds lies in their ethereal structure and ephemeral nature, influenced by the interplay of air, water, light and the infinite shades of blue.

The varied processes highlight the contrast between the genuine blue light of nature and the artificial blue light we encounter daily on screens, inviting reflection on our perception of reality and memory of the image over time.
