EVERYWAS and EVERYWHERE

Graphite on BFK RIVES (France) 100% cotton paper 300gsm

Each panel 80 x 80 cm
While it is a drawing it’s not a drawing … it’s a sense, a feeling, a fear, an idea … heaved on to paper, about the way humans garden and shape the world. Where once we were a species amongst it, surrounded safely by its life saving wonder, we are now crowding the natural world in.
In my time on earth, I sense the change. The planet has added nearly 7 billion humans in that time. These things all inform my dread of the imbalance looming, or already here.
Note: the work comes with a list of the more than 75 botanical species drawn in the work: plants I have seen from the outskirts of Melbourne to Cape Town, to the Alps of Switzerland, Sydney to Somers, Kakadu to Uluru, the parks in New Delhi to the jungles of Timor Leste and beyond.
