Artefacts of an Uncertain Present

Paper pulp, melted glass from my burned home, protest ephemera, flammable vegetation, charcoal, clay

These works are formed from the remnants of my home, threatened forests and collective action.

They’re an experiment in what can be rebuilt from what remains of this place I call home- a small practice of restoring possibility and imagining repair for the world.

Making them felt like a quiet act of care and reconstruction, bringing me solace and softness in a hard world. The works and I both hold grief, but also a fierce persistence.

Throughout the making, I questioned how we might live and create with one another in a world that is still burning. I don’t have the answers but it’s a powerful act, making something from nothing.

The works hold traces of destruction and renewal and beauty too, though fragile. There is a strong memory of fire but also a satisfying, restless hope.
