Breathing Room

Natalie Martin

2025

Watercolour and pastel

I meant the title Breathing Room quite literally. I wanted to create a place to decompress and truly breathe, to inhale the coolest, purest air and feel replenished. Spending time in nature is essential to healing and feeling whole and this work is a gentle reminder of that.
My practice is deeply rooted in connection to the natural world. Through watercolour, I aim to capture both its beauty and its quiet strength, the rhythms, textures and pauses that remind us we’re part of something bigger. By inviting viewers to slow down and appreciate these delicate moments, I hope to encourage a sense of reverence for our environment.
Appreciation is the first step in any conservation effort. When we fall in love with nature, we naturally want to protect it, to give it and ourselves, room to breathe.
