Deepening interconnectedness-lessons under Eucalyptus Obliqua

I am curious about the convergence of creative arts, the human subjective world and nature as a portal to new ways of knowing. This partially stems from my training in eco-phenomenology which examines how humans experience the environment, it is not concerned with the subject object divide. This work is made with nature as co-creator. The image, created with materials specific to location, offers insight into the character and knowledge held within conservation land where we collaborated and reanimated our interconnectedness.

My approach to this work is experimental and involves leaving the paper in the landscape anchored under a messmate. We attune slowly and move into deep reciprocal attention and responding. This unfolds over many days in an emergent embodied mark making collaboration. Working with blown woodland detritus, visiting insects, foraged natural materials, weather and the interplay of presence co-creates a permanent record of our interactions and new perspective.
