Disquieting Spring

Watercolour

I have had a long-standing connection with the land at Buxton, accompanied by a deep interest in its native flora—particularly on the southern slope of our hill, where an extraordinary diversity of plant species can be found.
It is disheartening to witness how population growth, ignorance, and the pursuit of convenience and material goods continue to contribute to the degradation of our natural environment.
Disquieting Spring, depicts the native floura that grows along the Acheron River and on the hill. Which is part of a native forest that stretches toward the Black Range. Many of the same species once thrived throughout this forest before land clearing and the introduction of pine plantations altered the landscape.
I hope to inspire my grandchildren, and others to recognise the value of these native plants and take steps to protect them through thoughtful land management ensuring they do not fade into just a memory.
