Drawing Flowers like an Owl

Two Plate Etching

This is the true story of an owl who appeared one summer afternoon roosting in the oak tree in our garden. His big eyes drew into his mind the entire scene. I watched him as he watched us, unbothered by the flurry of birds around. I assumed it was a male for
his size was enormous. I looked him up in our bird book to find he was a Barking Owl or a Powerful Owl. He remained in the one position until dusk when he mysteriously disappeared. There is something magnificent about experiencing the presence of such an Owl during the daytime. It felt like the entire world could fit into his wondrous eyes. I took photos then later drew him in my composition on a copper plate, expressing my feeling of awe.
