Falling Nest

Charcoal on paper

Falling Nest was made with charcoal gathered from the ruins of my farmhouse, surrounded by trees where I used to collect fallen bird nests. After the fire destroyed my home, I returned to that landscape and used its remains to draw.

The work reflects on fragility — of home, nature, and belonging — as nests tumble through space like memories unmoored. By turning the ashes of my home into marks on paper, I sought to trace both destruction and renewal, giving shape to loss.
