Cyanotype on handmade paper

Golden Gingko explores the intersection of nature, memory, and transformation. Using cyanotype on handmade paper, I photographed gingko leaves, converting the images to black and white before inverting them. By printing both positive and negative versions onto acetate sheets, I layered them to create a cyanotype that emphasises the delicate structure and intricate veins of each leaf. One leaf was selected to be coated in gold leaf, highlighting its singularity and evoking ideas of preservation, reverence, and the preciousness of the natural world. The process reflects a dialogue between organic form and human intervention, capturing both the fragility and resilience of nature. The handmade paper adds a tactile quality, reinforcing the sense of intimacy and care in the work. Through Golden Gingko, I aim to invite viewers to slow down, observe closely, and consider the quiet beauty and significance of the natural forms that surround us.
