Seasonal Shift – cool change emerges from time spent on a regenerative farm near Albury, NSW, where care for soil, water, and ecosystems is paramount. The grid, both device and metaphor, becomes both paddock edge and fabric of land, its shifting geometries marked by seasonal change. I work with pokerwork, charcoal, erasers, and pastel, layering these with collaged rondels of gold and silver foil to evoke the cycles of time: paddocks moving from golden dryness to green abundance.
Through this materiality, I seek to reveal the earth’s quiet treasures: humus-rich soils, deep carpets of grass, and the unseen labour of microorganisms. The resulting forms echo both map and woven cloth, a ground patterned by renewal. I celebrate an ethos of tender care on this land, where the farmer draws on Indigenous and settler knowledge and affirms the spirit and wellbeing of place.
