Sheep in sheep’s clothing

Amanda Galbraith

2025

Drawing, dry point, stitching on paper

This artwork was inspired by the concept of animals and their relationship to the land. I am interested in the beauty and patterns found in nature and used this to create a piece of clothing for an animal that we associate with produce and farming the land; which was part of my maternal mother’s background growing up on a sheep property in the New England tablelands. I am also concerned about the roadkill in our local area and wondered what a bright pink cross on a dead kangaroo on the side of the road meant – I have linked this to the concept of introduced species that have created environmental issues, hence the cross on the rabbit, even though I love them.
