Silent Reach

Precision is left to the hunter. Drawing with my non-dominant hand and deliberately obscured vision, I relinquish control and follow intuition and instinct alone. Restless lines scratch and weave, speaking movement and building urgency. I vulnerably embrace unpredictability and resist resolution – keeping the marks honest, immediate and responsive, preserving the raw energy of the moment.

From within the web of frenetic linework emerges the predator, suspended mid-strike, silently reaching for its prey. The audience witnesses a moment usually cloaked in darkness — a breathless intersection of instinct, survival, and vulnerability, the pivotal instant that decides their survival.

But the predator faces a threat of its own – one just as silent and deadly as its strike. Raptors face a growing danger from secondary rodenticide poisoning – consuming baited prey invisibly laced with fatal poison. This drawing eerily foreshadows and holds space for this quiet environmental crisis.
