pencil & watercolour Chinese and mulberry paper

The Spiral of Nature is a hand-drawn concertina book inspired by the form of the Chinese Dragon Spiral. Across 21 double-sided pages of handmade mulberry and Chinese calligraphy paper, I have drawn the flora and fauna discovered during my walks in the Burralong valley outside my studio and through the Australian bush.
Working in graphite, colour pencils and watercolour, I etch and scratch into the delicate paper surface to evoke the textures and patterns of the natural world. Interwoven throughout the book are quotes and poems that echo the rhythm and quiet of nature’s voice. My deep passion for the Australian landscape is central to my practice—whether working on wood panels or the intimacy of paper, I aim to capture the subtle beauty often overlooked. I invite the viewer to pause, listen, and feel the bush come alive, walking with me through this spiralling journal of discovery and connection.
