In ‘The Shape Within,’ I use the metaphor of a river system to explore the flow between the external landscape, ecosystems, and the internal self. The ‘river’ depicts not just bodies of water, but channels where subconscious currents shape my perception of nature. Just as a river carves its path through the earth, my emotions and thoughts carve pathways through the landscape, constantly shifting and evolving. The yellow landscape I see is not static but in motion—reflecting the interconnected forces of nature and ecosystems, much like a river’s flow. The beauty of the environment becomes a bridge between the external world and my inner experience. Through this, I reflect on how natural systems, from rivers to ecosystems, mirror the currents within us, and how this continuous motion connects us to the earth, the rivers, and the cycles that sustain all life.
