Shellac Ink on 640gsm Hot Pressed Paper

When I am among the trees….
they give off such hints of gladness.
I would almost say that they save me, and daily….

RELICS DANCE diptych

This tree relic once grew at Hollow Tree in central Tasmania.
Early European colonists cleared the forest leaving iconic trees.

I fell in love with this dancing relic.
Its dynamic twisted form, holds strong even with tenuous connections.

It sings, it dances – it’s still alive, being home to multitudes of micro-organisms.

I invert and subvert the viewer’s gaze.
The tree is beautiful and elegant even as it erodes and falls.

I invite people to share their feelings of
When they are among the trees…
By posting their Favorite trees to Instagram #When_I_am_among_the_trees

Drawn and painted with shellac-based inks onto 640gsm hot pressed paper builds up layers of translucent colour & metallic sheen amplifying the life-giving power of decay.
