Where alternating layers of blood-red hematite and opaque black chalcedony are frozen in striated tension

Fixed pastel and paint

My work explores the geological terrain. I am captivated by the violent beauty of Australia —a lithic chronicle of an ancient Earth.

The palette is one of elemental conflict: the rocks are enflamed by sharply delineated mars-violet, cardinal, and carmine, which bleed against the angular black and the common red colour (due to iron inclusions).

I seek to capture the immense pressure and time held within these strata, where the only respite from the clash of red and black is an occasional, mineral-stab of ochre.

This is a testament to planetary transformation, a record of oxidation and deposition rendered in stone. My art is an act of uncovering these deep, chromatic histories.
