Yam Daisy-Time Beneath the Bloom explores the silent narratives held within the Murnong Yam Daisy (Microseris lanceolata). A plant once abundant across Australia and deeply woven into the cultural, ecological and spiritual lifeways of First Nations people. This work reflects on the quiet power of native flora to hold memory, belonging and place.

The Yam Daisy is more than a flower. It is a symbol of sustenance, care and connection to Country. Beneath its delicate petals lies a root that nourished generations, anchored in a landscape shaped by millennia of reciprocal stewardship.

Through this work, I draw attention to what lies unseen both literally in the soil and metaphorically in the stories buried or overlooked through colonisation and environmental change. Time Beneath the Bloom becomes a quiet act of remembrance. Inviting the viewer to listen deeply to the layers of history, knowledge and relationship held within the land.
